Anglo American - International Innovative Mining: Leadership Practices Programme
In collaboration with FidesOak Ltd and The Kiel Centre, we supported a global mining company to build leadership capability and cultural maturity across its international operations.
In partnership with internal stakeholders, and led by our founder Katy Eckert-Turnbull, we supported a team of coaches to deliver a multi-level development programme focused on introspection, behavioural change, and values-led leadership. The programme helped create high-performing teams, improved decision-making, and advanced the organisation toward a more aligned and sustainable high-performance culture.
🎯 Focus Areas: Cultural Maturity, Leadership Coaching, Human Factors, Team Performance, Strategic Alignment
🧭 Challenge
Anglo American - a multinational mining company operating across diverse geographies, faced significant cultural and leadership challenges:
Inconsistent leadership behaviours across workforce, supervisors, managers, and senior leaders
Siloed decision-making and variable levels of team effectiveness
A need to move beyond compliance-driven culture toward one that fosters high performance, collaboration, and psychological safety
Limited introspection and personal accountability among leaders, impacting alignment and organisational cohesion
The organisation recognised that sustainable cultural change would require a values-led, developmental approach - not just systems or training.
💡 Solution
In response, we partnered with the FidesOak, The Kiel Centre, and Anglo American to deliver a global cultural development programme across multiple international sites. The initiative was designed to deepen cultural maturity, build high-performing teams, and empower leaders at all levels to align behaviours and decisions with core values.
Katy Eckert-Turnbull, our founder, played a central role in leading the design and delivery of the programme. She supported and guided a team of experienced coaches across different countries, ensuring consistency in approach, adaptability to local context, and depth of impact throughout the engagement.
The programme focused on:
Individual Commitment to Change: Coaching leaders to take ownership of personal development through introspection and behavioural self-awareness.
Human Factors & Behavioural Insight: Supporting safer, more effective leadership by exploring emotional regulation, interpersonal dynamics, and decision-making.
Tactical Innovation & Team Performance: Helping teams shift from reactive problem-solving to proactive, value-aligned collaboration.
Strategic Alignment & Values-Led Leadership: Embedding cultural change through top-down and bottom-up commitment to consistent, purpose-driven leadership.
🔄 Delivery Approach
